Surcharge as percentage of order

Postby peteuga » Mon Jul 19, 2010 10:48 am

I am thinking of upgrading to shopsite PRO. I need to know if the surcharge feature can calculate a surcharge based on the total cost of the order not just per item ordered. For example I want to charge a 4% surcharge to the order dollar amount for all orders shipped to residential addresses. I do not want to charge per item like the help files show.

You can do this in both ShopSite Manager and ShopSite Pro, but not with the surcharge feature, instead with the Handling Charge feature. You can go to Commerce Setup > Shipping, and scroll down to the Handling Charge section. Here you can setup a calculation for additional charges per order. You would specify the field you want, sub total, total, etc, then multiply that by the amount you want. In your case, you would multiply the total by .04.

In case anyone wants to know how I fixed my problem this is what I did. I calculated my average sales prices from all of my products for 1 year. Then I calculated how much to charge that order amount if it is going to a home address. Once I new my numbers I set up the surcharge is this way:

Choose shipping address type;n

Business

Residential (add 5 percent);*.05

What if we wanted to add a surcharge to the order if the order total reached a certain amount. Is this also possible?

as an example: if the order reached over $150 we would then add a 1% handling fee/surcharge.
