customize cart layout

I see that cart templates/includes use a tag named SC_Form. I was wondering where I could find this tag so I can customize it. Does anyone know?

What are you trying to do? The SC_Form tag only includes the opening form tag and required form input fields. It does not include the entire cart form. The rest of the form input fields are added with other tags such as [-- SC_Shipping --][-- SC_Totals --][-- BUTTON Checkout --]

I am curious if it is possible to create my own tags to change the layout for these elements that ShopSite has pre-defined. Instead of using those, I would create my own and use those to change the what is displayed where in the cart.... especially the products with their qty and pricing.

You would need to use the ShopSite tags, but there is some flexibility in the tags and all of the ShopSite features have CSS classes assigned so you can style all the elements. For the basic layout, you can use regular HTML to position the elements where you want them.

I know this may sound funny, but why do I need to use the ShopSite tags ... if I can use my own (as long as I can figure out what the SC_Form tags generate) ?

Technically you could grab the code that ShopSite generates for most tags, hard code it into your template, and modify it with styles. However, this will make it so that you cannot change any settings in ShopSite without re-hard coding your template. For example, if you change your shipping options, the shipping options won't be changed in your cart because you would have hard-coded the previous shipping options. This also goes with custom checkout fields, tax settings, etc.
