Shopping Cart Set Up for Deposits

I am using ShopSite Starter. Is there a way to setup the shopping cart to take partial payments or deposits? Do we need to upgrade to a different version for this to be possible? We transfer home movies and some of the products require estimates of the amount of film. We will typically take a 50% deposit on order with balance due when service is complete.

There isn't a way to set this up in ShopSite Starter. In ShopSite Pro there is a re-occurring billing option where you can specify a beginning/first payment, and following payments. You could set this to one additional payment so that the total is split in half.

In ShopSite Starter, you could setup a $1 product, then use the quantity field for them to specify the quantity/dollar amount they would like to add to the cart. If they entered 500 in the quantity field, the total in the cart would be $500. To get this to look the way that you want you would need to setup a custom form so that the quantity field is formatted so that it looks like a price field with the dollar sign in front.
