PHP page text display problem: charset=

Postby hammer » Wed Aug 24, 2011 10:16 am

I have created a PHP page in shopsite 10.2. But many of the text characters are not displaying correctly and s appear as garbage $#@$%%$ In my experience this is because I need to update the meta tag on the page to a more modern charset.

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8">

How do I update the meta tag so the text on a page.php page will display correctly?

Thank you.

The meta tag for the charset is in the template itself. If you are using a built in ShopSite template, you can make a copy of the ShopSite template by going to Merchandising > Custom Templates > Page/Product > Copy Template. Once you have copied the template you are using, make a copy of your copy and rename it the same as the original file. This will make it so that ShopSite uses your modified template by default. You can then edit the template, and change the meta tag to whatever you would like.
