Macintosh / IE error: the cart will not let you add multipl

Apologies if this has been discussed - I searched the KB and am new to the
group.

A client runs Shopsite 4.3 SC (yes, old!). Adding items to the cart works
fine in all browsers except he gets this error with Macs running IE: "The
cart will not let you add multiple (differernt) items."

He says: "Every time you try to add a new item, it just shows the last item
that you added. If you empty the cart, then you can add a different item,
but you still can't add any additional items. I've tried 2 versions of
Explorer (4.5 and 5.2) on both Mac OS9 and OSX and got the same problem
every time."

However, I try the same site with a Mac running OS 9.2 and IE 5.0 - no
problem. I am very confused. I can't imagine that he has cookies off,
because the first order does get added to the cart. Any ideas? Thanks so
