Could not communicate with FedEx®. xmlSSL_exchange

I am having this message very often lately (10 times a day):

Warning, there is a shipping problem in the shopping cart!
Time: Fri Jul 1 16:41:08 2011
Could not communicate with FedEx®. xmlSSL_exchange Error Code: -4

Is there any solution to this issue?

This part of the message "Could not communicate with FedEx" says it all. The store was not able to contact FedEx so no rates could be returned. It could be a network issue between the server your store is on and the FedEx server or it may be that FedEx is having problems with their servers.

This error is not from my computer. I received this kind of message when my customers couldn't get rates from FedEx. UPS and USPS have no issue. FedEx said this is not their server problem. Their is no errors in my fedex meter number. It seems to me the shopsite shopping cart can't read the fedex rate return code sometime.

I tried adding an item to my shopping cart when I read your post yesterday and could not get FedEx rates. I also tried reregistering with FedEx in the backoffice of the store and that also failed.

Today I did the same things and it works.

Nothing in my ShopSite had changed so FEDEX must have been having server problems even if their support techs weren't aware of them.
