authorize.net module

Postby cbohlson » Sun May 22, 2011 3:28 pm

I received the following information from Union Bank concerning using the InternetSecure Gateway with an authorize.net module:

If you are considering using a shopping cart that has a module to process payments via authorize.net, you may be able to easily adapt the cart to process payments through the InternetSecure Gateway . Please note: you do not need to have an actual authorize.net account; just a shopping cart with an authorize.net module that you can modify to link to our Gateway.

My question would be, does Shopsite even have an authorize.net module?

The guy who posed the question is from Union Bank/Elavon Merchant Services, so my next question would be 'wouldn't it be cheaper to just get an Authorize.net merchant account and use Authorize.net as our payment gateway'? This is my first and only shopping cart experience, so I'm not familiar with the whole payment gateway scenario.

Any thoughts?

ShopSite has built in integration with Authorize.net so there is no need for an additional "module". There is no interface to change the url used to contact the payment gateway but the values can be edited in the anet.aa file in the store's data directory. Since ShopSite has not tested any gateway other than Authorize.net we can not provide support if you modify the anet.aa file and the other gateway doesn't work correctly. That being said, I am aware of several merchant who have done this with success and are using gateways that emulate Authorize.net.
