quantity pricing group

OK, I am feeling just a little bit stupid about this, but for some reason I cannot make this work.

1. I create a new QPG and give it a name
2. I go to the three products I want to have discounted when a customer orders any combination of them; in other words, there are three dvds in this series. if they order one of them, no discount. if they order any two, there is a $3.00 discount to both of them 9the price drops from $29.95 each to $26.95 each). If they order all three, the price drops to $25.00 each.

3. In each of the product pages, I link them to the QPG i created and in the matrix i put:
1 $29.95 $29.95
2 $29.95 $26.95
3 $29.95 $25.00

(I have also tried it with the sale prices in the first column)

However, when I add one copy of each to the cart, the discount does not get applied. However, if I add two copies of one item, the discount gets applied.

I know it is probably something really simple that I am missing, but I cannot figure out what it is.

Please help!
Thanks,
Debbie

never mind! suddenly it seems to work! i have no idea why...one still needs to hit recalculate to have it show correctly, but that's a minor annoyance.

sorry!

If this is what you have in the quantity pricing Ranges fields for the products
1 $29.95 $29.95
2 $29.95 $26.95
3 $29.95 $25.00

it is not configure correctly.

it should be
1 29.95 (if you have a sale price for 1 it would be here)
2 26.95 (if you have a sale price for 2 it would be here)
3 25.00 (if you have a sale price for 3 it would be here

The 1, 2, 3 are the group levels i.e. you get a certain price when you buy 1, a lower price for 2 and lower still for 3.
The second column, Price/Unit, is the price that each item in a group will cost if they buy that many.
The third column On Sale is only used if you are giving a sale price in addition to the quantity discount, so it wouldn't normally be used.

So with the way you had it configured you would only get a discount if you have the On Sale Toggle "checked" for each of the products in your pricing group. (Products > Edit Product Layout ) This indicates whether the sale price is to be used or the regular price. Without checking that box the quantity price would be 29.95 whether you buy 1, 2 or 3.

Thanks, Jim! That had been really confusing to me but your answer solved it. Now, if you don't mind, I have a second question about quantity pricing...I would like the customer to see both the sale price AND the original price, so they know they have gotten a discount. Is there any way of displaying both of those columns on the shopping cart, or some other way of indicating what they are saving?

There is no way to display both prices in the Shopping cart.
