How do I redirect the page after customer clicks Checkout?

Postby skyyw » Tue Apr 19, 2011 7:24 pm

When a customer clicks the Checkout button, I want them to be redirected to an external page that shows a disclaimer, then after agreeing to the disclaimer, resume the purchase. Is that possible with ShopSite 10?

Thanks.

You could add your disclaimer to the Custom Checkout fields section of the Checkout screen. (Pro version of ShopSite only)

You could enable the Confirmation page and add your disclaimer to that page.

The only other possibility would be to create an OrderAPI script to do some processing and display a page. But by the time that is executed the order is usually already finalized.

Hey Jim, thanks for the suggestions. I had already enabled the Confirmation page and added it there, but I suppose that, since it requires user interaction, it didn't work. I may be doing something wrong, but I don't know what.

I don't see a Custom Checkout field on the Checkout screen, unless you're referring to the box at the bottom labeled 'Text at the bottom
of the Checkout screen:'

I am using ShopSite 10 Manager and I'm beginning to believe that feature is only available for Pro users.

Thanks again for your help.

Yes, the custom checkout fields is a feature for Pro level stores only which is why I added the "(Pro version of ShopSite only) "

Order API is also a Pro level feature.

The only option for a Manager level store would be to use the Confirmation screen. The confirmation screen is after the shopper has entered their address and payment information but before the final submit. It is designed to show the shopper what they entered on the previous screen and give them a chance to change it before they commit to the order. You can add text at the top or bottom of the screen using the fields on Commerce Setup > Order System. You could also change the Finalize button to one of your own and have it say something to indicate that by clicking it that they agree to your terms and wish to proceed with the order.

That sounds like a winner. I will suggest to my client the value of upgrading to Pro version so hopefully he'll see it as I do.

Again, I appreciate all of your help.
