Backend Order Processing, inventory and customer management

Greetings:

We would like to move away from our current back end order processing, inventory and customer management system. We've used MOM (Mail Order Manager) for over ten years. Its been pretty good for us.

Even so, considering how Shopsite functions or can function, we would like to move to a web based system. The idea is to reduce the number of steps needed to process a order for example.

Before I start searching the web for it, I was curious if anyone would suggest a backend system that has worked well with their shopsite setup. This solution should be web based.

I have not seen a fully web-based online management system. We currently use StoneEdge Order Manager.

If you find any great online management systems, do let us know how you like them!

Thanks for the reply. I've heard of Stone Edge and went to their website reading through the material.

If you have a moment, would you share your insight on.

1. How seem less is the updating of product information from Stone Edge to Shopsite? For example, currently if we change a price in our MOM system, I have to change it manually in Shopsite.

2. Do you use their order status module and does it work well in tying in real time order status (well, at least real time from the aspect of just having to upload order status)

3. From what I read on their website, they allow PO's (we do alot of drop shipping) to be sent via fax, email and possibly a text file. Do you use the text file option? We have a small custom built program that extracts our PO info out of our MOM system and creates the PO file based on the suppliers file specs and then uploads it to the suppliers website. It would be great if Stone Edge allows this.

4. Did you have to migrate from another backend system to Stone Edge? If so, what was the system and how much hassle was it.

As you can imagine, we have many questions. The goal is to get a system that can interface with Shopsite more elegantly than our MOM system does.

1. We export product information in a flat CSV file and upload into ShopSite.

2. We do not use the order status module.

3. We use this feature extensively. Order Manager knows if the product is a drop-ship and will email/fax the PO automatically. Better yet, if we happen to also have one in stock (like a return) it knows, and gives us the option to ship out of stock rather than drop shipping.

4. No, we've been using StoneEdge for about 5 or 6 years. It's the only thing we've used for order management.
