Coupon auto-add to cart?

I am trying to set up a discount for one of our affiliates that would give their members 10% of their order for a specific time frame. To prevent the discount from ending up everywhere (and to keep it exclusive to this affiliate), I'd like to use a link in place of a code. How do I set it up so the discount is automatically applied to their cart? The comment from my affiliate is as follows: "You can embed the discount in the link and have it directly applied to the shopping cart if you want to make sure no one else posts it. "

I assume I would also need to create a landing page for these folks to inform them of the auto-application of the code? Thanks for any insights you can offer!

It is easy to set a discount coupon to a customer group. We have to figure out that when the landing page is brought up through the associate link, it automatically signs in to a general user name and applies the coupon to the shopping cart.
