Debate: to upgrade or not to upgrade...

Postby GymRats Volleyball » Fri Oct 25, 2002 10:00 am

That is the question!

I've been using Shopsite Manager for a few years now and it has been
great... limited, but good enough for my "small business" needs. Now that
we've grown, our website needs have become a little more advanced, Shopsite
Pro 6.1 is looking good to me.

BUT, I've been reading all of your posts, and now I'm scared to upgrade.
I'm upgrading specifically for the coupon code, and quantity discount
feature. Those 2 features seem to be the most talked (complained) about
here.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jeff,

You have to remember that this is a place where people come to have problems
discussed . I think there are lots of people using coupons who are having
success with them. The easiest way to tell if it will do what you want would
be to go to http://www.shopsite.com/demo.html and get a demo store. You can
then download your databases from your current store, upload them into the demo
store and experiment with the way you want to use the coupons etc. The demo
store is available for 24-48 so you could get a good idea in that time if it
fits your needs.

Jim:

I tried your suggestion, but they don't have a Pro version to "manage".
Just the Manager level, which doesn't have the coupon feature.

I feel like I will definitley benefit form the new features, but from
reading the posts, it didn't sound like they were working at all. I can
deal with limitations but not "errors" that noone can "recreate" to figure
them out. I have had some rough spots with our website but it's been smooth
sailing for a long while now and I'd hate to run into nightmare errors just
before the holiday shopping.

Thanks for the reply anyway!

Actually, most of the demo's are Pro, not Manager. Try the "Get Your Own
Demo Store! ShopSite 6" link in the Build a Store From Scratch section
of http://www.shopsite.com/demo.html. Those will all definitely be
Pro's, and you will have access to it for about 48 hours.
