*Force* users to select from drop-down list ?

Hi

Anyone know if there's some way to make the
"ordering options" dropdown list *compulsory*?

i.e. In our case the user needs to be forced
into selecting a *size*!

add ;n to the end of the first thing in the option I think...

So:

Select Size:;n
Small
Medium
Large

The only thing being, when they don't enter it they get this plain white screen with nothign on it
except the error message. You can change the header and footer that get included at the top and
bottom of the error message by editing these files:

www/cgi-bin/sb/bo_error_head.html
www/cgi-bin/sb/bo_error_tail.html

If you wanted to do custom error messages, you could end bo_error_head.html with <!-- and begin
bo_error_tail.html with --> and then just put your custom error message in bo_error_head.html

Hope all that helps!

That ;n did not work for me. Now I have items with 3 sets of
options...I put an ;n in all 3 of them but it still allowed the
item in the shopping cart with 2 options that were never
selected.

Can you proceed to the checkout screen without selecting an option other
than one with a ;n after it, though?

Jimmy,
They may be able to put it in the cart without selecting the options but
can they checkout with just one option selected? When I try it I get
an error message saying an option selection is required and I can't
finalize the checkout until all options are selected.

Yes, I did get the error message when I went to the cart, you are
right. However, when I tried to correct the problem by changing
the options, hit Recalculate, I still got the same error message.

Jimmy,

If you have a technical support issue that you want to be addressed by
ShopSite, Inc., please send it through your ShopSite reseller/hosting
provider. Off the top of my head I can only say that I have never seen
this problem before.
