Truncating Address 1 Field

Postby vwdforums » Fri Mar 25, 2011 12:13 am

Hello,

We have changed Payment gateways and they are telling us that we have to truncate the address 1 field to 30 character so that orders do not fail. This client is using Shopsite 8. Is there a way to do this? If not in Ver 8 can I do it in Ver 10? I could upgrade them if that would help solve the issue. Please let me know.

Thanks!

What payment gateway are you using?

What version of ShopSite 8 (8.0, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3)?

I've never heard of that restriction with the Paymentech Orbital gateway or of any ShopSite merchant using that gateway having a problem with it, but you can try upgrading to the latest ShopSite version. If Paymentech Orbital still claims there is an issue after the upgrade, the only thing I can think of that you could really do at the moment is (if you have ShopSite Pro) add custom JavaScript to the Checkout screen (via the 'Javascript added at start of built-in CheckIt function' field in Commerce Setup -> Order System -> Checkout menu) to check the address field and either just truncate the Address 1 contents for the shopper, or pop up an alert telling them to shorten their Address (they could enter part in the Address 1 field, and part in the Address 2 field, if necessary).

Hi Loren,

We tried upgrading the shopping cart but that did not work. Paymentech is still receiving a 521 error on their end if the address 1 field is over 30 characters. Do you have or, know where I can get a sample of the javascripting you are taking about so we can try that intead?

Thanks!
