Can I set a different shipping cost per product?

Postby pchester » Fri Mar 04, 2011 10:23 am

I am setting up a small shop page for a non-profit organization. I would like to use the basic ShopSite software provided by my website host. We will be selling mainly books, using various suppliers who will drop-ship their products for us. They each have different shipping rates, so I need to reflect their actual shipping prices for each product rather than have a flat-rate or by-weight price added to the cart. Is there a way of doing this?
Thank you.

I assume that when you say "basic ShopSite software provided by my website host" that is the Starter version. That version does not provide a method to hipping on a per product basis. The Manager and Pro level do have an option that can be used called "Base Plus Shipping". With that option you can set the shipping charge for each product individually and, if you would like, you add an additional amount amount for the total order.

The Starter level has a limited number of products (12 or 15). If you plan on having many products you would want to get the manager or pro level to allow for more products. You can see a comparison of the features in Starter, Manager and Pro at http://shopsite.com/scchecklist.html

Thank you for replying. Yes, I am using the starter version. We will only have a few products, so that limitation should not be a problem, but we do need to have individual shipping fees. Unfortunately I do not expect our turnover to be large, so we cannot afford the paid versions of ShopSite and will have to look elsewhere.
Thank you again for your help.
