Email Notification Question

Postby bbaloghe » Mon Feb 21, 2011 12:00 pm

For the first three months I was sent email order notifications when a customer placed an order. But in early February the email notifications stopped coming. The orders were still visible if I logged onto Shopsite, but I stopped receiving notifications. A week later I began receiving them sporadically. For every four or five orders I would receive an email notification for only one of the orders placed. Then in mid February I started receiving duplicate email notifications (two identical notifications for every notified order.) But still, even these duplicate notifications come one out of every four or five orders placed.

My customers are still receiving their order confirmation emails, but I am receiving about 1/5 of my order notification emails, and these 1/5 come in duplicate.

I've made no changes on my preference page regarding email notifications. I purchased the software through Godaddy. I handle all orders manually (no PayPal, credit cards are processed manually.) I have spent two hours on the phone with Godaddy and they claim that it must be a Shopsite "scripting" problem. Shopsite says it's got to be a Godaddy problem.

Can anyone help?

The ShopSite program passes emails to the email server that is configured for your store. (Preferences > Hosting services) After that point the emails are out of ShopSite's control. If you are receiving some emails and the shopper is receiving emails then things are configure correctly in ShopSite.

You could have Godaddy check the mail server log for where your email is being sent and see if they can find out what is happening to them. It is entirely possible that a spam filter somewhere along the line, either on your host or on the host where you get your email (if they are no the same) or on your local machine is capturing the emails as spam. So check all of your spam filters and see if the emails are being quarantined.

Well, far as I know you should have the godaddy check the mail server log. In your email setting maybe there’s a setting that needed to change it. However, you can try to search in online by using some search engine like google I think you can be found some info that you can use as reference.
