Sidebar Template - Balance Columns & add sidebar graphics

Postby bruce clumpner » Wed Feb 16, 2011 1:57 am

I'm new to shopsite and have not rolled out our site, bur have some simple questions as we build the site out. We've using shopsite ver 10.0 and the built-in sidebar template through our hosting company.

1) When using multiple columns for pages, how do you force balance the column widths to be all equal? My pages seem to break the product name in weird spots, and not consistantly and I'd like to fix it.

2) I'd like to drop in a couple of graphics at the top and bottom of the sidebar area, I see the "graphic" gets dropped in at the top, how would I drop in a graphic at the bottom, past all the links?

Thanks.

For your first question, you will want to add the following code to the header on your pages (Preferences > Page Header/Footer, or Layout Settings). You'll want to change the percent based on the number of columns you have setup (50% for 2 columns, 33% for 3 columns, 25% for 4 columns and 20% for 5 columns).

<style type="text/css">
table.Products td {width: 25%}
</style>

For your second question, I don't believe that there is a way to add additional information to the left sidebar below the links on the page in the version of ShopSite that you have, v10. If you are able to upgrade (contact your host) to version 10 sp1 or 10 sp2, then you can go to Preferences > Layout Settings, and specify image 1, image 2, text a or text b, and I believe that all 4 of those fields appear in the left navigation bar below the links (it may be split so that 2 of those are above the links and 2 are below the links).

Lauren,

Thanks for the quick answers, I'll drop the code into the header window to fix the column widths. I also figured it was a version problem to drop the graphics below the links.
