Shopsite strips "UA" from the Google analytics Trackin Code

Postby mobilchuckje » Mon Dec 13, 2010 12:51 pm

I am getting zero data from my store pages once I activated Google Analytics. I first removed any hand coded Analytics scripts from my templates. Then I activated Google Analytics from the Merchandising area of the SS back office (V10 SP 2). The tracking code field has the correct tracking code - and the sample script box has the correct code -. ShopSite correctly places the javascript on all the store pages just before the closing </body> tag. However the tracking code has the "UA" stripped off and the javascript includes only:

_gaq.push(['_setAccount', '-']);

Any thoughts? I have not found any useful info after searching for a while.

Thanks
chuck

I see that stripping the UA seem to be a function of choosing Asynchronous. Switching to "New Google Code" replaces the javascript with a different version and the tracking code contains the UA again.

When should I choose "asynchronous" and when should I choose "New Google Code"?

thanks.

You probably don't have the latest 10 sp2 r2 maintenance release, then.

* (Linux and FreeBSD only) fixes a problem with the new Google Analytics Asynchronous option where the 'UA-' was left off the front of the Google Analytics site ID in the Analytics code placed on the store pages, causing Google Analytics not to record the traffic when using this option.
