Sub-products

I have a group of products. They come in three sizes, then each size comes in thirteen colors, each color option has four tirm options. I am attempting to use sub-products to allow the customer to select the family first, then select size and color, then select trim color. I can't get my store to recognize a sub-product. I folowed the instructions on the help screeen to create the family page. I then assigned the first size, howver, the color option (all sub-products to the size) do not show up? Do I have to use a special template. WE have version 10 of the software.

Have you considered using ordering options instead of sub products?
You could still have your "family" as the main products but then in the Product > Edit Product Info screen in the Ordering Options section in the
Pull-down Menus you enter the Size, color and trim color options like this

Select Size
Small
Medium
Large

Select Color
Red
Blue
green
etc

Select Trim Color
Gold
Silver
Red
etc

Depending on the ShopSite product level that you have you can even vary the price depending on which options are selected.
If you have ShopSite 10 Sp2 you can also keep track of inventory level for each option combination, have a separate image for different options, have individual SKU, weight, etc

That is exremely helpful feedback. Let me play with it and I will advise back how it worked out.
