Google Base - product id required, but not in xml

Hi. I'm hosted with Verio, and I'm on ShopSite Pro Version 9. I've used ShopSite for a few years now, but I'm trying to use ShopSite to generate my google base xml file for the first time. When it's submitting the file to google, all products are rejected. The XML is missing a required atribute - the product ID. I checked the XML, and sure enough it's not there. There should be a <g:id> attribute. Here's the exact error:

status=Invalid item, title= Error, id= PID#1, message= <errors> <error type="data" field="id" reason="The item is missing a required attribute." /> </errors>

Why isn't Shopsite generating the file correctly? What I'm afraid you're going to say is that product id is a recent addition to the google requirements, and shopsite pro 9 is not configured to put that in. I'm assuming that it should use my product sku for the id field?

Can anyone confirm what my issue is, and if it's possible to get this resolved? If I need ShopSite Pro 10 to do this, do you know if ShopSite has an agreement with Verio to offer 10? Can I simply call Verio and tell them to upgrade me?

Verio does offer ShopSite 10.0 and newer, the easiest thing to do would be to call them and ask them to upgrade your ShopSite to the latest version.

If your ShopSite 9 is actually 9.0.3, then there are patches available for this, see the following ShopSite Knowledgebase article:

Among other things, it:

"* adds sending 'g:id' element with each product in FTP and API feeds."

So if you have ShopSite 9.0.3 you could ask them to apply the patches, but you may as well ask for an upgrade (all newer versions of ShopSite contain the same fixes, of course).

Thanks Loren. I'm on 9.0.2, so I'll give Verio a call. Thanks for letting me know about the knowledgebase. I had this forum bookmarked from 2008, but didn't know the knowledgebase existed!
