Client App Error

Postby mjbrunelle » Tue Sep 14, 2010 5:05 pm

When displaying our Thankyou Page, after coming from the Confirmation page. We get this output:

<!-- ClientApp: Error-count incremented (1) -->
Content-type: text/html

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" >

<head>
<title>DMi Shopping Cart</title>

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" />
<meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow" />

Any suggestions what would be causing this output.

An error is occurring during the ordering process at some point along the path. It may be hard to pinpoint what the error is but I have found that sometimes when I enable the custom-dump.pl or customdump.cgi as an Order Api script (Merchandising > Order API) that more error details are displayed. Also if you are using a payment gateway enable the Display Details option for gateway and see if the details show a problem.

Things that I have seen cause the error is a problem with contacting a payment gateway, shipping company, tax api, etc.

The only Client App we are using is the UPS shipping done through the Shipping tag in Commerce Setup.

Maybe the UPS shipping is causing an error because of a zip code being used or the UPS account info is bad or ShopSite wasn't able to contact UPS because a port on the server is blocked or ...

If you disable UPS does the error still occur? If the error goes away then you know it was ups so check the merchant setting, ports etc on the server. If disabling UPS doesn't fix the problem try disabling other features, tax, shipping, payment gateway etc and see if it still occurs.

Without installing debug code on the store it may not be possible to determine where the error is occurring so trying to isolate the condition that is causing the error is the best method to pinpoint what is causing it.

Also are you using a custom template? If so see if switching to a ShopSite template helps.

Thanks Jim,

I set the customdump.cgi in the Order API and it showed that there was a typo in the name of the CSS INCLUDE file for the ThankYou email.

All is good now.
