search restriction is stupid

sorry, hate to use the word stupid but it IS stupid to get the following message when you search for a key term:
The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: fax.

The point of a key word is to narrow the search results to those posts which contain the word fax, no?

I would like to add a fax field to the shopping cart so in addition to other data, we can request a fax number.
In all of the applicable forums, I get the same message when I try to search 'fax', 'fax field', adding a fax field, etc.

I assume you are referring to the forum search? The server was just updated with a new version of the forum software so some setting may have been reset to default values. I have passed on your comment on to the server admin to see if it can can be fixed.
