how to redirect a page?

Postby Jean Yates » Fri Sep 27, 2002 10:14 am

Does anyone know how to redirect a page? I tried the classic meta code in
text 1:

<head>
<meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="3;
URL=http://www.avalonwine.com/PAGE1.HTML">
</head>

and shopsite keeps adding code to the end of the url so the link won't work.
I have divided my site into two shopping carts and need to redirect
customers from the old url to the new.

Thanks much!

Jean,

Since the Text 1 field does not get generated in the HEAD section of ShopSite
pages, at least not in ShopSite default templates, then this will not work. You
cannot just add more head tags later in the document, there can only be one HEAD
section.

There is not normally a way to add things to the HEAD section of
ShopSite-generated pages using the default templates, but you can do so if you
are using custom templates or you can review the workaround liasted in the
ShopSite Knowledgebase, http://support.shopsite.com/kbase, search for S02825
and/or S03786.

Jean,

You can generate one here. If you cannot get it to work, write Support@YourHost.com or have them refer you to one of our designers. I think this page will help you generate what you need.

TITLE>Redirect to </TITLE>
<META NAME="AUTHOR" CONTENT="Jean Yates">
<META NAME="KEYWORDS" CONTENT="wines,gift baskets,oregon">
<META NAME="DESCRIPTION" CONTENT="Best wines in the Northwest">
<META NAME="GENERATOR" content="YourHost.com">
<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="INDEX,FOLLOW">
<META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="0; url=http://yourhost.com">

Go to Edit Page Content then the box Meta Description in the default template.
We have used the format below before to refresh the page:

1 OCEAN BOULEVARD-Finer Swimwear"><meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="10800

Shopsite adds the beginning code and the ending code which makes the page
correct.

Doing this in the box should work

meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" CONTENT="3;
URL=http://www.avalonwine.com/PAGE1.HTML

If you already have some code in the box, just do as above adding the ending of
the first tag and the beginning of the 2nd tag.
