Product Categories

I would like to see a way in ShopSite to categorize products so we can apply discounts easier and integrate javascript to allow additional custom functionality.

For example right now we have to use a custom product field to create categories, and use javascript to show certain information on those products on the website. But there is no tied-in functionality with ShopSite, so price updates from the control panel wont work. Plus there is no way to only view products with a specific category we choose.
