Add To Cart Button on a different subdomain - problem!

Postby doncx » Tue Jul 06, 2010 8:14 am

We're trying to put add-to-cart buttons on different subdomains. When we do this the purchaser is either taken to an inappropriate welcome page, or bounced back to the page with the add-to-cart button. I suspect that http_referer is involved, because when the same button is hosted on the same subdomain as shopsite, it works.

How can I make these buttons on other subdomains work?

You can specify where the "empty cart" and "continue shopping" buttons return customers to by going to Commerce Setup > Order System > Shopping Cart. There is a setting for the "continue shopping" button here to either return customers to a specific page, or to return customers to the last page they were on.

It sounds like you have it setup to return customers to the last page they were on. This works in most cases. However, this does require that the customers browser allows ShopSite to track the last page that they were on. If ShopSite cannot tell what the last page the customer was on, the default is the ShopSite index page. Also, if you are simply testing the OrderAnywhere buttons in your HTML editor, such as Dreamweaver or FrontPage, and the pages are not pushed live, ShopSite will not be able to return you to your test page, because that is not an actual page online, it is a test page on your local desktop.
