Order Download locking up

Postby Karen » Thu Oct 29, 2009 6:04 am

I am downloading my orders in XML to our AS400. About once a week, the download completely locks up, usually at a very inconvenient time.

I click Download, then the File Download appears, and I click Save. Then, nothing happens for literally an hour. It never takes me to the point of asking where I want to save the file.

I then give up, redownloading, thereby losing all the CVV numbers, which creates many more problems.

Any suggestions? I have as little as possible running on my PC at the time, but that does not appear to be affecting anything.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Sounds like it could be a problem with your web browser, try using a different browser or a different computer to download the orders.

We have tried several pc's with different browsers, unfortunately when this happens, we lose the cvv numbers and are unable to process the credit cards.
The pc's go to the "blue screen" and display various error codes, "Bad Pool Caller" and "IRQL not less or equal".

Does anyone have a guess as to why this is happening? The orders are downloaded via xml into our as400 system. We do not charge the credit cards until the order ships. These are charged directly through our order processing system.

Do I contact the developers of the download program regarding this?

How many orders do you have that you are trying to download?

Are you keeping all old orders in ShopSite or are you deleting them from ShopSite once you have downloaded them?

What version and product level of ShopSite do you have?

What is the timeout setting for applications to run on the server where your ShopSite is hosted? (Some may be as low as 30 seconds, 1 minute is common on Windows servers while other servers may not have limits at all.) It may be that you are exceeding the timeout and so your download application on the as400 system is being cut off in mid download.

I would definitely check with who ever developed your app and see if they have any ideas. They might be able to put some debug code in to see where the process is hanging.

Wow, seems others are having major hosting issues with shopsite also. Wonder why these companies are breaking at the same time with about the same problems?

I doubt that issue you are having would have anything to do with the issue this merchant is having, but maybe there is something in common, like the hosting company? Thousands of merchants are using ShopSite without problems. Occasionally a server configuration or upgrade changes can cause server issues that can affect the way any application works. If ShopSite has been working and suddenly stops the problem is usually on the server since the ShopSite cgis don't change.
