random problems with new shopsite sites

Has anyone else experienced problems like these?

Random pages and images not loading for any reason that is obvious...
Repeated "refreshes" will get the pages up, as well as most or all of the
images... Buttons in the shopping cart randomly non-functional (giving a
"this page cannot be displayed" result). These problems are appearing on
all three of our shopsites, with varying degrees of severety, and varying
times of the day. One possibility might definitely be with the server, but
I have been told that the server we have should be able to handle that kind
of load easily. Could some of the customizations I've implemented (mostly
just custom templates) cause these kinds of problems? If this sounds
familiar to anyone, any help would be appreciated.

Problems with your static pages and images randomly not showing up could not be
a problem with ShopSite since they are not being processed in any way by
ShopSite once they are published. This indicates some kind of webserver, DNS, or
connectivity issue. Even the shoppping cart wouldn't (in most circumstances) be
reacting erratically in this manner unless it were one of those other issues.

Also, I just tried your shopping cart (using IE 5.5) and noticed what you
mentioned about some of the images not showing up until I refreshed a couple of
times. This part of it is definitely a server issue, since ShopSite is just
outputting the HTML for the images and appears to be doing so correctly each
time, it is the server that is not serving them up.

BTW, usually Internet Explorer's "this page cannot be displayed" generic error
message page has a more specific error down towards the bottom, usually
something like "server 500 error" or "DNS error, couldn't find server" or
something like that.
