Ship To Country

Postby Jay Guliano » Wed Sep 04, 2002 11:39 pm

We are on version 6.1 and ship all over the world. Over 99% of our shipments
go within the USA. In the setup we have chosen UPS as the shipper and allow
shipping to all the UPS destinations. Additionally we have chosen to have a
drop down window for the COUNTRY. My question is how do we get United States
to show up as the default instead of Argentina?

Currently you will need to edit the countries.dat file and move the line
for United States up to the top of the file. Don't mess with the format
of the file or the lines in it other than moving an entire line up,
because the format of the lines is important. In the future there will
probably be a way to set the default country from within ShopSite.

Thanks Loren, that fix worked perfectly. It seems to me that most of the
ShopSite users should have United States as the default. Perhaps you should
make that change in the next release or put a window for selection of the
default in the back office.

Yes, you are right, the majority of ShopSite users are in the US, but
the correct long-term solution, as you mentioned, would be an option in
the backoffice to set the default country (there are actually quite a
few European ShopSite users, although they are in the minority). I don't
make the changes, but I believe that this is already slated for a future
version.
