How do I automatically send download keys?

Postby frustrated » Thu Apr 08, 2010 7:10 am

I have several digital downloads available in my store, and I would like the download keys to be automatically sent to the customer as soon as their transaction is complete. I can't figure out how to make it send the keys without having to manually send them while viewing the order. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks for any help-

Commerce Setup > Digital Download > Configure
URLs for Downloading check the box(es) where you want the link to appear.
Include URLs on Thankyou Screen:
Include URLs on Customer Receipt:

I have those checked, but I know that the URLs are not in the receipts. Customers have forwarded me the receipts along with questions on where to download the files. The link to download the files is clearly not in the receipt.

Any other ideas?

Are you perhaps using a custom cart template and the required tag has been removed from the template?

Is the product configured properly as a download in the Product Info under Shipping and Download Information?

yes, they're configured as downloads. When I view the order from inside my shopsite, there is a button for me to send the keys. Unfortunately, I cannot really view that very well on my smartphone, so I can only send keys from home. I want customers to get the keys right away.

What is the url to your store and which product is a downloadable product?
You say you know the url is not on the receipt. Is the receipt a text version or an html version? Does the product name on the Thankyou screen appear as a link?
Where is the store hosted? Have you asked them for support on the issue?

Here is the link to our download store:

https://brushymountainpublishing.com/do ... store.html

The receipt is a text version. It has a link to the store, but not to the product download.

Here is an example of an email receipt for a download (which a customer quoted in a reply asking where her keys were), showing that there is no download link in the receipt:

This store is powered by ShopSite web catalog software.

The store is hosted by Verio, but they are a disaster when it comes to ShopSite Support. I wait on hold for 30-45 minutes, finally get support, wait on hold more while they check your help files, then they tell me they will send me an email within 24 hours with an answer. About 3 days later I will get an email with an answer that doesn't really solve the problem, so back I go on hold again.

Your cart is using the sc_default template and your store is version 10 r7. I installed the same version and used the same template and I see the product name as a down load link on the Thank You screen and a link on the shopper receipt below the product table and above the payment info

So if you have it enabled and you are not seeing the same thing then you need to contact Verio and request to speak to a tier 2 or tier 3 support person who is familiar with ShopSite. If they can't get it figure out while you are on the phone with them then request that they contact ShopSite for assistance. Also get a case number from them and forward it to me in a private email.
