"Message: Socket Connection Failed, error 110: Connection timed out"

This would seem to indicate that the shopping cart was unable to make a connection to your payment gateway service to pass it the credit card info. What payment gateway are you using? You may need to have your host check the internet connection on your server to make sure it can make an outgoing connection to that service.

For that particular gateway, the shopping cart needs to be able to make an outgoing connection to secure.linkpt.net on port 1129. Please ask your host to check to see if that is working from your server, or if perhaps they have a firewall rule that prevents this connection from being made.

My problem may be how I entered the digital certificate. I am trying to rule out my stupid mistakes before contacting my host. Can you tell me what I need to enter for the digital certificate?

The instructions state both the RSA PRIVATE KEY and the CERTIFICATE part.

I have two sections of the PRIVATE KEY, two sections of the CERTIFICATE SIGNING REQUESTS and two sections of the CERTIFICATES themselves. What exactly gets entered?

http://www.shopsite.com/help/10.1/en-US ... point.html

You must copy and paste the entire certificate, which includes both the RSA PRIVATE KEY part and the CERTIFICATE part. Copy everything, starting with the line that says
-----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
and ending with the line that says
-----END CERTIFICATE-----.

I copied the information from the .PEM file that they sent and if matches that. I just wanted to be sure. I am speaking to Bluehost now and port 1129 was NOT open. They are asking if I know if I need it for inbound or outbound and tcp or udp?

All this talk about opening a port, is making me want to go open a bottle of Port myself. :D

Thanks Lauren,

I just got off the phone with Global Gateway (again) and they said bidirectional - which is not an option with BlueHost. Is anyone here using Bluehost?

The connection is bidirectional once it is established, but the connection is established OUTBOUND. Your host should be able to enable an OUTBOUND connection on this particular port. Please ask them to enable that, then try again.
