Change the page header dynamically

We are predominantly boating supplies but also have a Home & Garden section and will be adding an Outdoor/Camping section. I'd like the page header to be more appropriate for each section ie boats in the Marine section, flowers in the Home & Garden section etc.

I use an image background and HTML text in an include to create my header.
This is in Page Header and Footer section for header

I thought I could use Page Field 1 as a department indicator and then place code in the header HTML include to change the image background according to the value in Product Field 1. I'm just not sure that Product Field 1 is reference-able from the included HTML.

Your SSI include won't be able to pull contents of the Field 1 from the ShopSite database, however in your custom page template you could use [-- PAGE.Field1 --] to define a CSS style or populate a JavaScript variable that your SSI include could reference.
