Large item shipping

we sell large items (70 pounds) that are all shipped in individual boxes. We calculate shipping based on live fedex rates. If a customer orders a quantity of 2, the system will not calculate shipping and requires them to call is. Is there a way to handle this automatically?

Have you specified a container for the product? If you have it should calculate shipping for each of the items separately.
You also need to make sure you have the maximum package weight set to more than 70 lbs.
