out of stock

We have several items that are constantly in and out of stock. Is it possible to make a product unavailable, out of stock or unorderable without deleting it?

We like to keep these items visible online because people search for them and if they are out of stock they tend to order something else, so I would like the page to appear even if we can't fill the order.

Create a custom product template for the out of stock items and replace the add to cart button code with some text like "Out of Stock" Then assign that product template to out of stock products.

If you are using the ShopSite Inventory tracking feature you can use the Quantitiy on hand field to determine if the add to cart button or some other text is displayed when you publish.
