meta tags

Postby tulipgraphics » Wed Mar 12, 2008 12:33 pm

meta tags keywords and description is showing as text on the top of the page in the template I made from scratch.

I solved the problem by inserting in the keywords and description tags in back office <META name="keywords" content="my key words ">
Is that okay to do it this way ?

I don't understand why in the template "clean" both meta tags do appear but in IE view source, but in the template there are no shopsite meta tag in clean.sst, so how does this template show the meta tags ?

Anybody out there who can help me undersatnd this ?

The code to display the meta data is found in the include file Page-Head.

This statement in the clean template does that
[-- INCLUDE Page-Head PROCESS --]

Missing meta tags

After 2 months online, even with the templates very modified, it finally dawned on me that the META KW & Desc WERE NOT IN THE GENERATED PAGE. I don't know in whom I'm more disappointed, myself for not noting it, or whoever produced the 'Modern' theme without them.

I upload page and product data, with supposedly marvelous keyword study, and only happened to note the lack of them in the 'view source'.

I now have the include page-head in and all is AOK, but somebody should shout out to the users about that need. Or is it that I am the only dumb trusting customer? And it was only through this thread that I found the answer once I knew I didn't have them.

Thanks to the forum for being a place to get it our of my craw. WOW!
