Anyone have a refernece for problem resolution in Firefox?

Postby mjbrunelle » Wed Nov 25, 2009 5:41 am

When our site loads in Firefox, we have untold problems. Everything works fine in IE.

Entire CSS files are ignored, but only a few format definitons in others are ignored. Format definition in a CSS works on one page, but not on the next.

Get undefined errors of javascript functions that we know are in the js file.

Very Frustrating.

run your page through an html checker like
http://validator.w3.org/ or
http://htmlhelp.com/tools/validator/

And see what problems are reported. IE has its own "standard" that it follows while firefox more closely follows the actual html standard. So if you have IE specific coding it may not work in other browsers.

Thanks Jim,

But we used the W3 site as a reference through the whole development processs in hopes of not having these issues.

What is a link to pages that have the problems?

Mozilla resolved issue

They looked at the site and at some point in time we must have copied and pasted some code that created a conflict with the charset definiton and Firefox does not handle the conflict.

Switch to UTF-8 and problems are gone.
