FTP multiple image upload - HOW?

Postby tbleakley » Tue Jan 20, 2009 5:44 am

I have at least a hundred more product images to upload from my PC onto my Shopsite. All the Shopsite 8.3 help menu says is to use FTP. Can anyone tell me the details on how to do this? I'm using windows XP and IE7. Thank you. :)

First your server must allow you to use ftp and you need to be able to set the appropriate permissions on the files after you upload them. So check with your host and see if your account allows you to use ftp to the store's media directory.

FTP is a internet protocol and is widely documented on the web. There is a built in ftp client in windows that you can use from a command prompt window. There are also separate applications that are more GUI based that might make it easier. I would recommend that you do a web search for something like "using ftp windows" without the quotes and you should get lots of hits on how to use FTP.

Note that in in service pack 1 (sp1) for ShopSite 10 there is now the option to upload multiple images at once. However, if you want to upload 100s of images then FTP would be your best option.
