sst/css file locations via FTP

Postby Noggin » Sat Nov 07, 2009 6:51 pm

So I'm basically attempting to find the sst/css files for cropcircles theme via FTP and failing.

My basic goals include replacing the image header with a flash banner and small tweaks to the layout which I am confident can all be achieved if I find these super elusive files :D

You should copy the files using the backoffice interface and specify Copy ShopSite template. That way the file will be in the user area and you can make modifications there.

If you modify the files in the location where ShopSite keeps them they WILL be overwritten on an upgrade and all your changes will be lost.

If you really want to get to the files they are in the sc/templates directory. So if your host gives you access to that location you will find them there. The location on your server for that directory would be the same as the path to the Shopping Cart CGIs URL: specified in Preferences > Hosting services.

I'm just looking for a way to globally edit all the
"<!--
body {
padding: 0px;
margin: 0px;
text-align: center;
background-color: #626660;
background-image: url(http://gourmet-delights.com/store/shops ... adient.gif);
background-position: top center;
background-repeat: repeat-y;
color: #000000;
}
body, div, p, span, li, td, a {
font-family: Helvetica;
font-size: 12px;
text-align: left;
}
#header {
background-color: #357715;
background-image: url(http://gourmet-delights.com/store/shops ... -green.jpg);
background-position: middle center;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
font-weight: normal;
text-align: center;
margin: 0px auto;
font-size: 16px;
color: #FFFFFF;
height: 250px;
width: 900px;
padding: 0px;
}
#header h1 {
font-family: arial narrow;
font-weight: normal;
text-align: center;
padding: 80px 0 0 0;
margin: 0px auto;
font-size: 60px;
margin: 0px;
color: #FFFFFF;
}
ect"
info for all the pages. For some reason the Custom Template section under merchandising doesn't seem to allow for much :(

I'm not a giant fan of the file-management and template wizard layout so I may just be looking in all the wrong places for the correct way to edit these features.

Try going to:
Merchandising -> Custom Templates -> Includes
and choose "Copy ShopSite Include" and copy the include named "CropCircles.css" to a unique name.

Edit this custom include, adjust as needed, and then copy it to the name "CropCircles.css". This will override the default css that is called in an include tag.

You should be able to copy templates to custom template ones, and then via FTP access these files in the ShopSite data directory:
data/templates/...

I can copy the css to a unique name fine enough. Renaming it after the original file doesn't seem to replace the original. Oddly enough I'm noticing that:
/www/shopsite-data/templates and all of it's subfolders are totally empty except for my includes. I was half expecting to find other templates in it.

Shopsite itself says:
"Your data/templates directory is [/usr/home/gour60/www/shopsite-data/templates].
If you have access, you can FTP or copy documents directly to these subdirectories."
Which isn't a valid directory for me.
/users/gour60 is but nothing of interest is in there.
I assume it means
/www/shopsite-data/templates

So forgetting the whole FTP idea:

How would I go about globally modifying the current CSS page (not just switching colors via the 'Edit Page Layout' section). Or telling them what css page to use?

I found I could copy CropCircles.sst and tell it to call in a different CSS file.
I found I could copy CropCircles.css and modify it well enough.
Using "Edit Page Layout" I told a random page to use my NEW sst template (which is identical to the default except for which css file it calls) and it still didn't have any effect.

It was baffling enough that the custom template sections were in the Merchandise section but ShopSiteTemplate files are making me wish that their template wizard came with an advanced css editor or style selector.
