Header background image issue

Evening, we are trying to put a background image on the header (and only the header). No matter what we put in the header field, SS wants to erase the code and call the background from somewhere else or the default color basically. SS will take the image and put it on the whole page but when you go back into the editor it is then gone. We know the html works as we have tested it on test pages/editors. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, how did you make it work?

What template are you using?

That template includes the [-- HEADER --] and [-- FOOTER--] tags so you should be able to enter what ever you want in that area by going to Preferences > Page Header and Footer and adding the the html there.

Note that There is a style around that area of the template so you might need to edit the style sheet if the formatting isn't what you need. The styles are included like this
[-- INCLUDE awesome_orange_001_pa_styles.css PROCESS --]
[-- INCLUDE awesome_orange_001_pr_styles.css PROCESS --]
so you would need to check those 2 style sheets under the "Includes" area of Merchandising > Custom templates.

The actual style around the header is
<td class="header_content">[-- HEADER --]</td>
and around the footer is
<td class="products_footer">[-- FOOTER --]</td>
