Search for 1:29 1:32 1:20.3

My users need to be able to search for the scale (size) of an item. I have create an extra field in the product record called scale. I have added either 1:29 or 1:32 or 1:20.3 to that field.

I have set the Search Indexing to a 10 for that field.

How can I get the search engine to find them. It is having a problem with the : I figure. Really need to figure this out.

If I try to add 1:29 as a keyword it gets added as a 1 and a 29.

I believe that only letters and numbers are indexed as words, punctuation is used as a separator for words and is not indexed.

Would it help to encode the : symbol?

How would you encode it? Html encoding would contain a ; that would be punctuation too.
