Custom checkout fields

Postby chipmaster » Thu Jan 01, 2009 12:42 pm

In my custom checkout fields i have three requirements: email address, user name and password. Now, I would like these to be used for "product A"; but I have a second product, "product B", that I do not want these fields to show up during checkout. Does anyone know how I would "shut these fields off" during checkout when a customer purchases "product B"? Thanks in Advance.

I really doubt that you will be able to do that on a product by product basis. But if you could you would probably need to do it with some type of script that would check the products in the cart and determine by their name or sku whether they require the fields or not. Then your script would have to automatically fill in the fields (possibly as hidden values) for orders where the products needing the info are not present. If the products needing the info are present then you would have to allow the shopper to fill the fields in.

Like I said though I doubt this is possible. It may be better to use the per product text field that is available to request the information on the shopping cart screen.
