Problem with Amerpersand on check out

Post by bigpage »

Recently upgraded to ShopSite 9 and PayPal processor are rejecting orders when people put the "&" in the name field on the shipping address on the checkout page. For example,

John & Joan

is rejected and comes back with a

-6: Parm List format error

When our service people speak on the phone with the customer and take out the Ampersand it goes through. Needless to say, this is jamming up the sales desk.

Anyone have any experience with this

Which PayPal processor, specifically? PayPal Payflow Pro? Or PayPal Website Payments Pro?

Does shopsite have any javascript i can enter on the check out screen using the built in javascript "check it function" to make sure proper characters are being used in the name fields?

This is causing big problems and generating a large number of phone calls, not mention we are concerned we may be losing orders.

I should note that we used shopsite 5 and 7 for years and never had this problem. We upgraded recently to Shopsite 9, and now we are having trouble with ShopSite sending the "&" sign and it being rejected by Paypal.

I just placed an order in a ShopSite v10 r6 store using PayPal Payflow Pro and I put an & in every field I could in the billing address and shipping address and it still went through. So perhaps you should ask your ShopSite reseller to upgrade you to the latest v10 release, if possible, since it doesn't appear to be an issue in v10.
