Adding a "Sort By" option to a regular product pag

In the Edit Page Layout screen you can choose to sort the products on that page Ascending, Descending, or None. You can then choose what Product field you want to sort on. You also have the option to manually choose the order in which products appear on a page using the Arrange Items feature.

1. Are there any other options for arranging the order in which products appear on a page? For example, is there an option to randomly place products on a page? Or, place the most popular products at the top of the page?

2. The Search Results page includes an option of adding a "Sort by" pop-up menu button. Is there an option to place a "Sort by" pop-up menu button on a product page so that the customer can choose how products are sorted on the page?

If you don't specify a sort order for the page the products will be placed on the page in the order that they were added to the database.

Search pages are dynamically created so it is possible to change the order and display them on the fly. Regular pages are static html so however the products appear on the page when it is generated is the way they will stay. There is no way to get around that.
