Fraud Protection

Postby Nikolaus Gruchot » Wed Jul 10, 2002 3:26 am

Hi,

I am just reading in the ShopSite Help for V 6.1 new features:
....
Fraud Protection
The IP address and host name that the shopper is coming from are included
with the order information in ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager stores.
....

We are running V6.0.x and I have just received a fraud order. I was trying
to figure out if there is a way to get the IP address for that specific
order also in V 6.0.x. But as it is mentioned as a new feature for 6.1 I
guess, there is no way?!

The cc data (incl. CVV!) are already submitted to the fraud department of
our cc billing company, but I would like to pass more information along if
possible.

You can probably get it, but it may not be easy. First, your webserver
must be capturing that information in the webserver access log. Then you
should check the timestamp of the order in ShopSite, then look in the
webserver access log for an access to thankyou.cgi at that time. The
time on the webserver access log should be within seconds (or less) of
the time on the ShopSite order. And if your webserver tracks who made
the hits, then this particular hit should give you the information you
are looking for.
