Page not indexed for search...

Postby Nikolaus Gruchot » Thu Jul 04, 2002 12:58 am

Hi there,

we have one page in our online shop called "under construction", this is
where we put all our products when working on them, prior to assign them to
a page and put them live.

This page is set to [ ] Index page for product search. When working with V
4.x no customer wouldn't see any product that is assigned to this page. We
are on V 6.x now. I have just received an order from a customer, where he
was ordering a product that is from the "under construction" page for 0,00
Euro. I have checked, products that are listed on the "under construction"
page can be found using the search funtion! How can that be?

----
As talking about the search feature. The under construction page is the only
page that has a shopsite generated search field. On all our live shop pages
we have put the search field in the universal header. I have defined a
graphic "suchen.gif" as SEARCH button and translated "search" in the back
office setting into german "Suchen". Now when performing a search, the
search result page produces the results and on top a search field for a new
search followed by the suchen.gif as search button and with the IMG
ALT="Suchen" attribute.

BUT, on the "under construction" page where the shopsite generated search
field is generated, the search field appears and the button does not
display. The image tag for the button reads:
src="http://www.danshop.com/media/Suchen" this means instead of the
"suchen.gif", the "Suchen" from the translated field "Search" is placed here
in the URL. Buggy! I do not bother as we are not using the shopsite
generated search field on any user page, but others may want to.
----

By the way: Any specific logic to place the "Go to 1, 2, 3, etc" buttons on
a search result page ABOVE the search results instead of BELOW? Do we want
to exercise the digit finger of the customers by making them scroll back up
in order to see the next search result page? :-)

Best regards,

Niko,
Germany
