Search Error

Postby Rilt » Sat Jun 22, 2002 7:14 pm

New Shopsite User Alert!

For some odd reason, I am getting an error on searches for products that
have descriptions (either on the main product page or on the More Info page
for the item)
The error goes something like this, printed at the top of the offending
search page: (numbers are different each time...)

0 [main] productsearch.cgi 1008 handle_exceptions: Exception:
STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION 5330 [main]
productsearch.cgi 1008 stackdump: Dumping stack trace to
productsearch.cgi.stackdump

I can remove the error by removing the description of the item, and that is
it. Even turning off the option of having the search look through the
description and moreinfo information didn't work. Is there something I am
missing? I have to have product descriptions! Doesn't do much good to sell
things when people don't know what they are...

Anyone know what I am doing wrong? Each product that has caused the error
only has one thing in common that I can see: descriptions containing HTML
tags (all common tags, like <LI> or <BR> or <FONT COLOR=...)

Appreciate anyone's help here...
Thanks
Ben

Ben,
I went to the store Sewvacdirect.com which is listed below your signature
and it doesn't appear to be a ShopSite store. Is that the store you are
concerned with?

What version of ShopSite are you using on the store with the problem? What
operating system is the server running? Is this a new store or one that has
been
working for a while and just started having problems?

Have you contacted your hosting partner to see if they can help resolve the
issue?

We are running v.5.0.1.7 (Actually had another post earlier with a different
email address with that info) and the server is Windows 2000 Advanced
Server. Everything is new. We have it set up on a server that is not live
yet, since we are replacing the program we currently use and have used for
the past 3 years. In order to make the transition smooth, we are building
the sites off-line, so to speak. I have not contacted my hosting partner
yet - when I made this original post it was at a rather inopportune time to
give him a call... Also, I have noticed that most posts on here get answered
in some way, and I just wanted to make sure I get all bases covered.
