Mercado and ShopSite

We would like to use Mercado (http://www.mercado.com/) search, navigation, and merchandising zones with ShopSite. We currently use ShopSite on our website.

We are being told that Mercado would be very hard to implement on the ShopSite system. Does anyone use Mercado and ShopSite? Can anyone offer any programming help to get Mercado implemented for us?

Any input is appreciated as we seem to be at a stand still.

I don't fully understand what Mercado... is... exactly, or how you intend to use it "with Shopsite." It looks like they provide a service and pretty much do the work for you - I'm guessing if you pay them, they will do what they do for you - but possibly with their own shopping cart, or else a different shopping cart, if they believe a different one would work better than ShopSite for you. Do you already have Mercado services? Do you know what they do, or what "Mercado" is?

It also creates and deploys dynamic merchandized landing pages. Basically, from what I understand, we send our product data, mercado indexes it and sends xml results back (based on search queries). Our visitors will see a robust searching and navigational tool allowing filters, etc.

We have to implement the coding on our side (on our pages) but a programmer looked into it and is telling us that ShopSite is very difficult to add this coding to.
