Hi all,
No need to pester your ISP's (resellers) at this point since the
feature
is already implemented for the next release.
While testing I created various products which included the term
48891-1v (which was suggested by Richard as a current problem)
in the name, sku, order options, descripton or search keyword field
and was able to find each one using just 88 as the search term.
You will be able to specify whether you want to use whole word
searches
or partial word searches and if partial word whether to match the
term
if found at the beginning, end or anywhere in the word. The
default
setting is whole word search but it is very easy to configure it to
what
ever
option you want. You will also be able to have whole word as the
default
if nothing is found retry the search using the select partial word
pattern.

My fellow merchants,
If the Search (need I say feature) mentioned above is important to
you, I urge you to contact your reseller by this Friday urging the
ShopSite powers to upgrade to a Search we all need...and our
competitors have. If we blitz them as a group, maybe they'll
listen
and make it a priority. I know I put this in writing 14 months
(April
2001) ago through the proper channels. Maybe if we did it in
unison
there would be a quicker response on ShopSite's part. Thank you.

I have to agree 100% with Jimmy. We have brought this up in this
forum
before and we will revisit it with our ISP (our reseller). With
1000's of
products and more being uploaded regularly, search is THE most
important
sales tool.
We have the utmost respect for the shopsite programmers and
please
take this
as constructive criticism . We have calls everyday from
customers
searching
our product line, all of whom have no clue or interest in doing
an
advanced
search with wildcards/Boolean Operators. You might as well be
talking
Chinese to them; and these are the guys who take the time to
call...
This is costing us in lost business and many others without them
even
realizing it..
Loren, what do you mean next release please? Major or the very
next
minor
update?
Thanks
Richard
