shopsite and print/virtual catalog software

I have a client who wants an e-commerce website but also a printed catalog (perhaps virtual also). My thinking is that I would use more or less the same data feed I currently use for building with shopsite (I use DB upload features extensively). Can anyone suggest catalog building software for print and perhaps virtual that can be built from more or less the same database. Or perhaps there is a 3rd party app that talks to shopsite already

You could create a shopsite page template and product template that display the way you want the printed page to look and just print it from the html page. I did this for a college dorm directory and it worked great.

Interesting idea but it needs to be professional with an index, table of contents and similar book type features.. which could be built I suppose. I think it would be ok for a limited amount of items but we are probably looking at thousands.
