Need to edit Hosting Service Configuration

Postby barnstormer » Wed May 07, 2008 5:16 am

I have an installation of ShopSite v 8.04. There has been an issue of customer's incoming mail servers not accepting the receipts. Error message:
Code: Select all
We do not accept mail from dynamic-IP hosts or generic/machine-generated hostnames - you must get a custom reverse-DNS  name from your ISP for your host

Reverse DNS is set up for my domain. It was recommended that we add the SMTP server (mail.mydomain.com) to the cart configuration.

In Hosting Service > Hosting Configuration, the current setting for the SMTP from the original installation is shown as "<not used>". I am not able to edit this information field to add the SMTP, because it is grayed out and the ShopSite manual say it is "read only".

Do we need to hire someone at ShopSite to perform this edit?

See
http://support.shopsite.com/kbase/view_ ... onID=S5463

Although this Kbase article is for an older version it does tell how to setup the smtp_host token. If on a windows platform you will need to have access to the actual machine or remote desktop to make the change.

Jim, Thanks for that tip!

In the file: cgi-bin/ss/mystore.aa the only lines of code relating to mail is the following:

Code: Select all
from_addr: mystore@mystore.com

sendmail_loc: /usr/lib/sendmail

I do not see reference to the current SMTP settings. Is this something I need to add?
