option text and option text menu

Postby tulipgraphics » Wed Apr 30, 2008 9:35 am

Hi,
I made an option text and option text menu, for my cosmetic shop.
Some of our products have a diffrent skin type or scent.
It shows up on my more info product page.
I used these tags:
[-- IF PRODUCT.DisplayOrderingOptions "checked" --] [-- PRODUCT.OptionText --]
[-- ORDER_OPTION_MENU COLUMN --]
[-- END_IF --]
When add to cart then I get it again but without the previous selection.
What did I do wrong ?
Thanks for your help
Amit

Your add to cart needs to be in a form when using the order options. See the example in the help under [-- PRODUCT.OptionsBox --] on http://www.shopsite.com/help/9.0/en-US/ ... oduct.html

Jim,
Thanks, it is working.
When a skin type selected at my more info product page, it is shown now I used the from in shopping cart.
But still it is not perfect because the menu box is not required.
how can I make it required ?

On this help page is a section called "Special Rules "
http://www.shopsite.com/help/9.0/en-US/ ... tions.html
In there are listed all the attributes that are associated with Order Options. The top one in the table is the 'N' option that says the option is not a valid selection and will require the shopper to make a selection of one of the other options before they can check out of the cart. (It is not required to add the product to the cart). So you would configure the options for the product like the example on that help page
(Ink Color);n
Black (-$0.15);-0.15
Red
Blue
Silver (+$0.45);+0.45
Gold (+$0.65);+0.65
So the first option would be text describing the option and is followed by a ;n. When displayed to the shopper they will see, in this case, (Ink Color) as the first item in the pulldown list. If they don't make a selection from the box when adding the item to the cart they will not be allowed to checkout until they select on on the shopping cart screen.
Note: these options are only available in Pro and Manager stores and are not available in Starter level stores.

Dear Jim,
Thank you very much for your help
The required option menu is working great !
What would I have done without this forum.

Today I am starting my 3rd shopsite store.

I do have a suggestion, when one signs up to this forum, would it be helpfull if one could enter the shopsite version he/she is using.

Thanks again
Amit

It might be nice to be able to enter your version number when you sign up but don't know how practical it would be. The forum has been going for many years and in that time we have gone from ShopSite version 5 to the current version 9. Since most users upgrade when new releases come out it they would have to go and update their settings every time they upgrade.

It would be nice though if people included the version number in the post.
